The EcoTank

Up to 80% savings in energy!

50-70% savings is typical

High efficiency

The patented EcoTube design requires up to 80% less fuel. One of our clients calculated over $150,000 in savings on a single well!

No secondary containment required

True double wall design – no berm and liner. 124% containment. This unique design creates a thermal barrier for insulation value. Fully contained manway.

Safety first

Patented EcoTube design eliminates dangerous hotspots. Much safer for lighter oil. Conventional firetubes can reach over 500 degrees Celsius. EcoTube runs between 130-160 degrees.

Simple transport and onsite setup

Haul on a winch truck; no picker needed to set up. No pilot needed for 1,000 bbl and under.

How does the EcoTube work?

The EcoTank features a double-walled firetube system which we call the “EcoTube”, coupled with an integrated burner management system.

The internal firetube is encased in an external tube that holds a biodegradable oil used for heat transfer.

As the oil inside the tube is heated, it expands and circulates around the entire length of the EcoTube. This creates a safe, consistent tube temperature across the entire surface of the heat tube, which allows the burner to run at much cooler temperatures.

Thermal imaging of the EcoTube shows that there are no dangerous hotspots which could ignite light oil, or gases, inside the tank. The burner can be run safely in a low-level situation because of the low and consistent skin temperature.

How does the EcoTank work?

The EcoTube is a tremendous leap in safety and efficiency, but the patented tank design itself is unlike any other.

Built to API 650 modified specifications, the EcoTank has build-in 124 percent dual-containment to prevent all overflows. This allows the tank to have a smaller footprint than conventional, vertical tanks with a berm and liner. There is no need to set up external dual containment, or even for pickers or cranes for tank placement.

The dual wall with interstitial space around the entire internal tank allows the EcoTank to act like a giant Thermos. The combined efficiencies of the EcoTube and excellent insulating aspects of the tank design can achieve up to 80 percent savings on fuel used to heat the fluid, versus conventional storage tanks.

This allows the EcoTank to perform more like a treater than a wellhead tank, vastly improving oil/water separation, getting down to 0.5 percent water cut.

If that weren’t enough, each tank is also designed to accommodate vapor recovery.

Efficiency

Fully 100% double wall design with thermos barrier to retain heat. The inner tank becomes its own heater!

Safety

A low-level shut down in the firetube and temperature control in the firetube and tank mean simple to set, precision heat control.

Why EcoTank?

The EcoTank beats conventional tanks in nearly every aspect, even shipping and set up. For 1,000 bbl and under there’s no pilot needed. It can simply be transported on a winch truck, rather than a cradle truck, and can be unloaded on level planks or rig mats. Then just plumb and wire it in – it’s ready to produce into on the same day.

How does the EcoTank perform in the real world? Well, one of our current clients saved over 150,000 dollars on a single well. The tank is being taken from site to site for production testing.

Normally, in this sort of situation, the site would have to be setup with the number of tanks they think they’ll need for oil storage, including all the secondary containment, wiring, and plumbing needed for conventional tanks. But, with the EcoTank, they just drop it on some level rig mats and are producing into it on the same day.

In this particular case, our client had a dry well, so they saved over $150,000 because they didn’t wast all of the time, equipment, and logistical expense setting up the site, only to need to take it all out again.

And that was just the savings on logistical costs, not including the savings on the fuel used to heat the tank. In this case, the EcoTank more than paid for itself on one well.

The EcoTank is available in a number of standard sizes: 400 bbl tank, 800 bbl tank, 1000 bbl tank, 1200 bbl tank; or it can be built to your custom requirements if required.
